Chalk Art Festival 2014

Presented by The City of Glendale, Bayshore Town Center, The Riverwest Artist Association and North Shore Bank.

Location

Bayshore Town Center, located at the corner of Silver Spring Drive and I-43 in Glendale, Wisconsin.

Important Dates

August 1: Applications are due (Notification upon receipt, but no later than August 6)

August 16: All artists must be at their space no later than 10am to begin artwork.

August 16: Chalk Art Festival 10am-5pm. 

August 17: 11am-5pm - View completed works of art and category winners.

Prizes and Judging Categories

Monetary Prizes totaling $1,200 will be awarded in the following categories:

  • Best in Show
  • Most Likely to be Hung in a Museum
  • People’s Choice #1
  • People’s Choice #2
  • People’s Choice #3
  • Best Animal
  • Best use of color
  • North Shore Bank Youth Award (Artists 18 and under)

Provided to each artist

No Fee to participate. A set of chalk pastels will be provided to each artist; however, if you are using a predominant color in your design you may want to bring an additional supply. Only non-oil-based soft chalk/pastels in a solid form may be used for the street art. Acrylic paints, liquid pastels, oil-based pastels, hard pastels, etc. are not acceptable.

  • Shade (umbrella, canopy, etc.)
  • Design/reference
  • Grid/pattern
  • Camera
  • Stool
  • Knee pads
  • Ibuprofen  

All artwork must be appropriate for public viewing by all ages. No political messages, words or symbols intended as advertising may appear in the image or space provided by festival officials. The festival will apply the partners’ name above your space. Artist shall own all drawings, sketches, color studies and photographs used in the creation of the chalk drawings and all copyright in the chalk drawings and artwork. Artist hereby grants to Bayshore an irrevocable, non-exclusive right, license and privilege to reproduce and take photographs of the Artwork (in finished and unfinished form) in connection with promotion and advertising in any medium; provided, however, that such uses are not made for sale. The festival reserves the right to take and use photographs for publicity purposes only.

Please provide a brief description of your proposed street art. If you are doing a reproduction (either your own work or another artist’s), please submit a non-returnable copy/photo of the image with your sketch.
